Professional Manufacturing
Creating a fishing rod from scratch involves numerous steps: design, mold making, material forming (with repeated tuning tests), grinding, painting, and assembly. This video will take you through the entire process.
It’s hard to imagine, but many crucial aspects are hidden in the seemingly insignificant details. For example, the process of wrapping materials around the mold is both complex and critical. Moreover, choosing the right carbon fabric from dozens of types, determining the fiber direction, and employing specific techniques and wrapping methods all require a lot of thought from the designer.
Furthermore, painting and grinding are steps where shortcuts cannot be taken. Most people who have dealt with painting projects know that quotes for repainting can vary greatly. To achieve a smooth, refined surface, repeated surface grinding (from coarse to fine) is essential. This is why high-end car paints often have a richer and more uniform color saturation compared to standard paints.
The production timeline for each fishing rod, from design and mold making through testing to mass production, can range from six months to one or two years. Taiwan’s rich and diverse marine and landscape environment has led to many unique fishing methods, such as the raft fishing series. The design concept for this series is developed from scratch, with no direct references or copies. Building an experience database requires significant effort and communication with various anglers, prototyping, and testing before mass production.
To ensure accurate rod performance data, new products are tested by anglers in real fishing conditions. This back-and-forth process of real-world feedback and product adjustments requires extensive time and cost. The core value of TSUEN CHEN lies in the belief that "every failure is nourishment for our growth."
